Default New races for all future expansions

Since this is specifically referring to GW2 or EOTN then I suppose this is alright.

This is mainly to continue the arguement I was going to continue in another thread but I guess I have to be a bit more broad about this.

One person said that the current game engine is not able to support new races.... has anyone opened there eyes?

We have centaurs, those blood creature things in the kurzick woods, and tengu that we can have as npc bodyguards!

Half the work is literally already done, attack animations, skill animations, all done if anyone has actually looked at the enemies, at least for core classes. All you have to do is give them some alternate facial textures and fur colors, etc. and suddenly you have character customization! Just give them some extra armors and VOILA! Instant new playable race. Heck the centaur hero has alternate armors.

So don't give me no crud about the engine not able to handle it o_o

And i know you're gonna say "but fox, guild wars 2 will have new races" well guess what >.> my computer is BARELY BARELY able to run GW without the video card burning out AND it takes 5 minutes to load a zone, i counted it, literally five minutes! GW2 will be a lot better graphically and my computer cannot handle that. So please anet, improve what you already have o.o

They have already said, multiple times, that GW:EN will only INTRODUCE new races. The whole idea with each race having its own special ability would be:

1. Incredibly imbalanced to the current metagame considering for two years it has been based around classes and classes only

2. Hard to implement within the timeframe they have given themselves. There many things that they would have to program aside from what you stated. The game is scheduled to release in minimum, bare minimum, 5 months, and I'm sure they are extremely busy with all the high-end (level 20 from the start) content they promised. Not to mention the countless missions in three acts and the storyline bridging us into an entirely new game.

If your computer has trouble playing the game, that is no reason for them to change their plans. If you really want to play different races in GW, then just buy a better video card. If your financial situation does not allow that at the moment, then you just have to wait. And anyway, GW2 doesn't release for minimum 2 years, I'm pretty sure almost anyone could save up for a new computer/video card by then. I have no doubt that the average computer will be able to run GW2 perfectly at the time of its release. Anet isn't stupid.

EDIT: Fixed a spelling mistake

Here's an idea: be patient and wait for GW2 just like the rest of us.

By the time GW2 is out hardware prices will have dropped a lot on most of the med/high components. I'm sure in 2 years you could save up enough for a new computer. It doesn't have to be the best, just good enough to run the game, so it wouldn't exactly cost a whole lot.

And I do believe the engine can handle new races. They could edit the engine to allow it, or they could do it the easy way: do a copy and paste job on the current races, then just change their names, models, textures, animations, armors, etc. They would have to change the character creation interface a bit too. However, that is too much work. That would be asking them to do a minimum of 12 new models (just for 6 core proffs), 48 new armors (4 per profession, male + female vers), new animations, new sounds, etc. That would delay the game until at least part way through 2008, which could then possibly delay GW2 as less people would be working on that.

So it most likely could support races, but I don't believe that it should.

Maybe save up and buy a new video card and stop complaining?
